Mount Vesuvius, 1281 meters high, is a sight of unusual beauty in the panorama of the gulf, especially when viewed from the sea with the city skyline. On clear days you can admire spectacular views of the most famous volcano in Europe, letting your eyes wonder from : sea, islands and the archaeological excavations of the cities buried by the eruption in 79 AD. After the 1944 eruption, the Vesuvius is dormant. You can reach the height of 1,000 by bus, then continue along the path-way until you reach the peak where you will get an impressive view of the crater guided by specialized mountain guides.
